Rucker began painting full time at age 39.  He had 27 one-man shows, exhibiting in New York City, Carmel, CA, Naples, FL, and many other galleries throughout the nation.  He painted numerous portraits, including those of many local residents.  Reproductions of Rucker's paintings were sold nationally, and in Europe, Canada, and Japan.  He taught painting for several organizations in the Piedmont and privately in High Point for adults and children.

Rucker and his work will be cherished and celebrated for generations to come.

A Celebration of Life Memorial Service will be held at a later date, which will be announced on the Cumby website and in the High Point Enterprise.
