Mr. Harry Guy Ashwell Jr., 91, resident of High Point, died January 24, 2021 at Brookdale Senior Living.
He was born December 3, 1929 in High Point, a son to Harry Ashwell Sr. and Annie Lambeth Ashwell. A resident of this area most of his life, he retired from NAPA after 35 years of service and was a member of God's Harvest (formerly First Pentecostal) Church in Thomasville. He also attended Holmes Bible College in Tennessee and was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force, having served in World War II. In 1951, he married Velma Jean Ashwell, who preceded him in death in 2005. In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by a stepbrother, Carl R. Adams, three brothers, and a sister.
Surviving is a son, Ronald “Ron” Ashwell of Everette, Washington; a granddaughter, Trista Ashwell of Everette, Washington; a great grandson, Gene Parkes; a step grandson, Troy McEachern; and a niece, Cindy Fletcher and husband Larry Idol of Trinity.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, January 27, in the chapel of the Cumby Family Funeral Service in High Point with Rev. Joe Beane officiating. A private interment will follow at Floral Garden Park Cemetery in High Point. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service Wednesday at the funeral home.
