Hazel Welborn Saunders

ARCHDALE-Hazel Welborn Saunders, 88, passed away on Friday, January 05, 2018.

She was born on September 11, 1929 in Randolph County, to the late Bingham and Zeffie Hunt Welborn. A resident of this area all of her life, she retired from Classic Galleries after 14 years of service. Hazel was a former member of Oak Grove Baptist Church (now West Fairfield Baptist Church). She enjoyed working outdoors; particularly in her flowers, and sewing. Her true love and passion was taking care of people; whether it was someone she met in the hospital, or her friends and family. She was a loving mother, grandmother and great grandmother and she will be dearly missed. In addition to her parents, preceding her in death were her husband, Darrell Saunders, great grandson, Knox Bingham Saunders, and her brothers, Lauren, Clyde and Thurman.

She leaves to cherish her memory; her sons, Dwayne Saunders and wife Joan, Craig Saunders and wife Brenda; her grandchildren, Amanda Saunders, Eric Saunders and wife Christian, Jonathan Saunders and wife Heather; her great granddaughters, Aurora Grimes and Emma Saunders.

A service to celebrate Hazel’s life will be held on Monday, January 8, at 11 am, in the Chapel at Floral Garden Memorial Park Mausoleum, with Reverend Craig Saunders officiating. Her family will receive friends on Sunday, January 7, from 4 until 6 pm, at Cumby Family Funeral Service in Archdale.
