Helen (Groce) Southards

Mrs. Helen Groce Southards, 78, passed away from cancer on Tuesday, November 28, 2017 at the Hospice Home at High Point.

She was a loving mother to 4 children, Teresa Southards, Sandy Southards, Todd Southards and wife Kelly, and Brian Southards and his wife Amy. She was also a wonderful grandmother to Holden Southards, son to Todd and Kelly. She also is leaving behind her sisters, Jo Ann Suits and her husband George, and sister Pat Wall and husband Jimmy.

Helen was the daughter of Dan and Canarie Dunn Groce, born July 10, 1939 and grew up in High Point, where she met her late husband, James Southards. 

Helen was a character to all she met, and brought joy to all her family and friends. She enjoyed reading, tending to her flowers and plants, learning the Bible and spoiling her children and grandchild with love.

Funeral will be 11:00 a.m. Saturday, December 2, 2017, in the chapel of Cumby Family Funeral Service in Archdale, where Rev. Colleen Danson will officiate the service. Interment will follow in the Floral Garden Memorial Park Cemetery. The family will receive friends Friday night from 6 until 8 at the funeral home. 

The family wants to thank the 7th floor nurses, CNA's and doctors at High Point Regional Hospital who were very caring during her stay and also to Hospice of the Piedmont.
