Henry Omer Tetu

Our father, Henry Tetu, died peacefully at the age of 98 on June 10, 2019 after a long battle with congestive heart failure.

Henry was born on November 3, 1920 to the late Eugene Tetu and Hermeline Henley Tetu.  In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Louise Lollis Tetu in 2009.

He lived to see the 75th anniversary of D day. He was a sergeant in the Army 56th Signal Battalion.

Not only was he on Omaha Beach on D day, his unit was at the battle for Cherbourg, the liberation of Paris, the battle of the Falaise pocket, the Ardennes offensive, the Battle of the Bulge, the march across Germany, the liberation of the Buchenwald concentration camp and the linkup with Russian forces in Pilsen, Czechoslovakia. We are very proud of his military service.

After he retired from banking at the age of 62, he and our mother enjoyed traveling until her death in 2009 He was always very easy going and quick with a joke, right up to the end. He will be missed more than we can say.

He was loved by his two daughters; Pam Cribbs and Jeanne Hunt; sons-in-law; Gene Cribbs and Steve Hunt; his 4 grandchildren, Frannie Hunt-Murphy, Dana Bushong, Becky Hunt, and John Hunt, and his 7 great grandchildren, Elyse, Ava, and Lia Potash, Sophie and Henry Bushong, and Aaron and Ben Hunt.
