Mr. Herman Benjamin Prather, 91, resident of High Point died April 9th, 2012 at High Point Regional Hospital.
Mr. Prather was born June 15th, 1920 in Davie County, a son to the late Benjamin Franklin and Neely Safrit Prather. He was a U.S. Army veteran and a resident of High Point since 1941. In 1975 he retired from Clarendon Industries and was a member of Thomasville Church of Christ. In December of 1940 he married the former Juanita Forrest who survives of the home. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a great-grandson, Justin Wayne Stanley; two sisters, Pearl Stroud and Beatrice Cashion; and three brothers, J. Oscar Prather, John Prather and Sidney Prather.
Also surviving are two daughters, Joyce Prather Stanley and husband Stacy of High Point and Linda Prather Jones and husband David of Mocksville; one sister, Lois Cartner of Statesville; eight grandchildren, fourteen great-grandchildren and three great-great grandchildren.
Funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday in the chapel of the Cumby Family Funeral Service in High Point with Mr. Charlie Fetters and Mr. Dane Waggoner officiating. Interment with military honors will follow in Floral Garden Park Cemetery. Visitation will be from 6:00-8:00 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Thomasville Church of Christ, 2209 Ball Rd.
