Herschel B. Turner

Herschel B. Turner, 79, of Jamestown passed away on Monday, September 3, 2018 surrounded by his family and relatives.

Herschel was born October 2, 1938 in Liberty NC to the late Henry and Christine Turner.

He graduated from Kendall school of Design in Grand Rapids, Michigan with a degree in Furniture and Product Engineering.  His career spanned over four decades in the furniture profession.  He served his country in the U. S. Army stationed in France from December 1961 until November 1963 as a Military Policeman, earning a “Good Conduct” medal.  Herschel was admired and respected by all that knew him for his creativity, innovation and leadership in his furniture design and accomplishments.  He enjoyed being “Mr. Fix-it” for all and loved being with his family and adored his two grandchildren.

Those who will cherish Herschel memories are his wife of 53 years, Donna Watson Turner, two sons; Greg Turner of Jamestown, Brooks Turner and wife, Courtney of Summerfield, grandchildren; Audrey Kate Turner and Joseph Brooks Turner. 

The family will receive friends and relatives on Saturday, September 8, 2018 from 10:00 until 10:45 am at First Baptist Church of Jamestown, 306 Guilford Road in Jamestown.  A funeral service will be held following at 11:00 am at the church with Rev. Jason Knight officiating. 

Burial will follow at Guilford Memorial Park with Military Honors.
