On Wednesday, February 15, 2017, our dear mother, Iva Lee Howard Meyerhoeffer, was escorted by the angels into the arms of Jesus. No, she did not gain her wings and she did not become an angel. She is a redeemed saint for whom Jesus died. For to be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord. She is there in all the fullness of whatever that means. Hallelujah
Born September 11, 1933, in Guilford County, Iva was the daughter of the late Arthur and Mabel Hinkle Howard. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husband, James “Jim” Meyerhoeffer, son, Joseph Vaughn, and a brother, Arthur Howard Jr. Iva was a member of Pleasant Hill Baptist Church in Randleman and had worked for Woodmark Originals.
Survivors include three sons, Sonny Vaughn, of Archdale, Abe Vaughn and wife, Barbara, of Rockford, IL, and Ray Vaughn and wife, Hazel, of Thomasville; two daughters, Naomi Snider, of Kernersville, and Sharon Johnson, of Asheboro; nine grandchildren, Monica Seaward and husband, Michael, Melani Strock and husband, Kyle, Bobby McNeil and wife, Bonnie, Christie Orvin, Celena Gothard, Jeremy Vaughn, Brian Vaughn, Israel Vaughn and Jennifer Myers; and numerous great grandchildren.
Funeral will be 3:00 p.m. Sunday in the chapel of Cumby Family Funeral Service, in Archdale, officiated by Rev. Ray Vaughn and Robert of the Griffiths. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Interment will be 10:00 a.m. Monday in Floral Garden Memorial Park Cemetery.
