ARCHDALE-Iva Lee Potter Bennett, 83, entered into eternal rest on Monday, July 2, 2018.
She was born on April 25th, 1935 in Watauga County, to the late Fate and Orpha Norris Potter. A resident of this area most of her life, she was a veteran of the US Army, and worked for Sky City for 17 plus years. Iva Lee was of the Baptist faith, and enjoyed reading her Bible. She also enjoyed crocheting. Her true love and passion was spending time with her family. She was a loving wife, mother, sister, grandmother and aunt and will be dearly missed. In addition to her parents, preceding her in death was a brother, George Potter.
She is survived by her husband of 35 years; Fred Bennett; her son, Scott Bennett; her siblings, Austin Potter and his wife, Bernice, China Tuttle, Rosalea Osborne, Grace Potter, Joyce Godsey, Gladys Cole and her husband, Danny, Jimmy Potter, and Steve Potter and his wife, Daris; her grandchildren, Nicole, Alexander and Elizabeth. Also surviving are a number of nieces and nephews.
A service to celebrate Iva Lee’s life will be held on Friday morning, July 6th, at 10 o’clock, from the graveside in Guilford Memorial Park, with Reverend Roger Carmichael officiating. Her family will receive friends following the service.
