Jack Willard Murray

Jack Willard Murray, 86, of High Point passed away peacefully at Westchester Manor on Tuesday, April 2, 2019.

Jack was born September 30, 1932 in Greenville, South Carolina to the late Clyde Murray and Eula Hall Murray.  In addition to his parents he was also preceded in death by his brother, Buddy Murray.

Jack was a very loving and giving individual to his family and the communities where he lived.  Jack served his country in the United States Navy, was a Scout Master for Boy Scout troop in Mooresville and served his church in Mooresville in the Royal Rangers.  He was employed by the city of Mooresville serving in the City Works Department and the City Police Department.  After retiring from the Police Department, he missed the interaction with people, so he worked at Auto Zone and NAPA Auto Parts. 

Jack loved his family and enjoyed spending time traveling to the mountains and golfing.  He was an avid gun collector and a member of North Pointe Pentecostal Holiness Church since moving to High Point.

Those who will cherish Jack’s memories are his wife, Judy Jordan Murray of 36 years; sons, Jack Thomas Murray (Robin) of Hendersonville, Michael Wayne Murray (Brenda) of Gastonia, Dan Curtis Murray (Angela) of Mooresville, Steven Craig Murray (Karol) of China Grove; daughter, Kelly Nelson Neal of Mooresville; sister, Nancy Benfield; 15 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren.

A Celebration of Jack’s life will be at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, April 20, 2019 at North Pointe Pentecostal Holiness Church, 5225 High Point Road in High Point. Reverend Darrell L. Greene and Reverend Keith Styron will officiate.  The family will greet friends following the service at the church.
