Jacob Tyler Martin, 37, of Kernersville, NC tragically passed away on December 2, 2018 in an ATV accident while on a hunting trip.
Jake was born on May 8, 1981 to Pamela Leigh Ilderton and Charlton O. Martin Sr.
Jake was a loving and dedicated husband. He loved being a father to his two boys Caleb and Collin. Jake was an avid golfer. He appreciated the opportunity to coach the Guilford County/High Point Special Olympics golf team, especially the time he spent with his brother Skip.
Jake was employed with Caffey Distributing as an Area Sales Manager for the last 7 years. He loved interacting with his co-workers as well as his customers. He considered everyone at Caffey distributing as a part of his extended family.
Jake never met a stranger and when he walked into the room, he was the life of the party. Everyone always knew when Jake was there. Jake was known for his big tight bear hugs and firm hand shakes that he always gave to those around him. Jake will surely be greatly missed by all.
Jake loved his country which was evident as he proudly served as a United States Marine for 5 years and did 2 deployments and 1 tour of duty.
Jake continued even in death to help others by providing eye sight to two different individuals.
Jake was preceded in death by his father Charlton Martin Sr., maternal grandmother Wanda Trogdon Ilderton, paternal grandparents Charles Edwin Martin and Peggy Booker Martin.
Jake is survived by his wife, Jessica Sullivan Martin, his sons, Caleb Moore Martin and Collin Tyler Martin. Jake is also survived by his mother Pamela Leigh Ilderton, his sister Britney Leigh Martin, and his brothers Charlton O. Martin Jr. (Skip) and Zachary Ilderton Martin (Ginny). Jake had one nephew Greyson Ilderton Martin. Jake also had many aunts, uncles, and cousins.
Visitation will be on December 6 from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. in the St. Edwards Hall at Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church.
A Funeral Mass will be held at Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church, 4145 Johnson St. High Point, NC 27265, at 11:00 a.m. on December 7 with full military honors officiated by Rev. Joseph Zuschmidt O.S.F.S. Burial to follow at Oakwood Cemetery.
