James Lee Corl

Mr. James Lee Corl, 81, resident of Colfax, died January 8, 2021 at River Landing at Sandy Ridge.

He was born August 11, 1939 in Lexington, Nebraska, a son to the late James Alfred and Maurine Lacey Corl.  He graduated from the University of Nebraska at Kearney and later joined State Farm Insurance as a claim adjustor.  Thirty seven years later, he retired as Regional Claims Manager over North Dakota, South Dakota, Nebraska and Iowa.  While with the company, he also served as a legal liaison for the corporate law department and was President of the Nebraska Safety Council.  He also was a member of the Masons.  In 2000, following retirement, he and his wife moved to North Carolina and later became members of Jamestown United Methodist Church where he was an active choir member.

In 1960, he married Sharon Lee Stevenson and this past December they celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary.  In addition to his wife, he is survived by two daughters, Tracy Lynne Dirks and husband Mark of Summerfield and Shelly Lynne Eubanks and husband Roger of Chapel Hill; a sister, Julie Reis of Arizona; four grandchildren, Ryan Dirks, Elly Dirks, Mary Lacey Eubanks and Roger Eubanks Jr.; a sister-in-law, Pam Tunge and husband Harold of South Dakota; and several nieces and nephews.

A private family inurnment will be held at Jamestown United Methodist Church Columbarium at a later date.  Memorials may be directed to River Landing at Sandy Ridge, 1575 John Knox Dr. Colfax, NC, 27235 or to Jamestown United Methodist Church, 403 E. Main St. Jamestown, NC, 27282.  The family extends special thanks to the health care teams at River Landing at Sandy Ridge for their wonderful care given to him.
