High Point – James Donald Farmer, Sr., 85, passed away Friday, January 15, 2021.
Born July 1, 1935, in Pulaski, VA, James was the son of the late Joseph Cephus and Okie Hudson Farmer. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by two brothers, William Carson Farmer and J.C. Farmer, Jr. James was a veteran of the US Army, and was a member of Hayworth Wesleyan Church. Prior to retirement, he owned and operated Super Snoozers Upholstery, and managed High Point Self Storage. In his free time, he enjoyed golfing, fishing, bowling, and painting. He was always cheerful with a smile on his face and a joke on the tip of his tongue. He was a wonderful husband and father. He loved spending time with his grandchildren and great grandchildren.
James is survived by his wife, Dorothy Norman Farmer; children, Kathryn Curling (Tom), of Roanoke, VA, James Donald Farmer, Jr. (Mischelle), of High Point, Billy Farmer (Kim), of Thomasville, Debra Spaugh (Arnie), of High Point, and Lester Williams, of High Point; grandchildren, Kristen Elston (Charlie), Rachel Bovill (Tim), Brittany Hendrix (Bryce), Bobbie Skinner (Jason), Jessica Wright (Nick), Dani Hobbs (Dan), Alex Spaugh (Sara), Summer Williams, Michael Williams, and Kalyn Williams; 14 great grandchildren; and siblings, Pearl Farmer Welch, Rosie Farmer Norman, and Lewis Hudson (Becky).
Funeral will be 2:00 pm, Tuesday, January 19th, in the chapel of Cumby Family Funeral Service in High Point, officiated by Rev. Brian Matherlee and Rev. David Emery. Interment will follow in Guilford Memorial Park Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.
