Mr. James Edward “Jim” Tripp, resident of High Point, passed away on Tuesday, April 16, 2019.
Jim was born on February 17, 1951 in Miami, Florida, a son of the late Percival Arthur Tripp and Laura Dias Tripp. Jim was a graduate of North Carolina A & T State University where he obtained a Bachelor of Arts in English. Jim served as a medic in the US Army and also served in the National Guard.
He was a deeply spiritual and artistic man, employed for 30 years by Fox 8, before retiring to pursue his passion of massage therapy and energy healing. Jim co-owned Natural Healing and Massage with his wife, Linda. Jim had a love for the water and animals. He enjoyed kayaking and frequent ventures to costal Carolina. Additionally, he and Linda adopted many pets over the years including their beloved dachshunds: Paisley, Zoey, and Ziggy.
Jim is survived by his wife, Linda Clapp Tripp, his sons, Luke Tripp of Portland, OR; Allie Tripp of Indianapolis, IN; Jack Gleason and wife Melissa McGee Gleason of St. Charles, IL; and Josh Gleason and wife Lindsay Holbrook Gleason of Atlantic Beach, NC. Jim is also survived by his brother John Tripp of High Point, NC; and his grandchildren John Gleason, Taylor Gleason, Shepard Gleason, Brandon Tripp and Makena Tripp.
Jim was preceded in death by his brother Peter Tripp.
A Celebration of Life will be held in the Chapel at Cumby Family Funeral Service on Friday, April 19 at 5:00 p.m. Carol (Andrews) Hughes will officiate the service. A visitation with light refreshments will follow the Celebration of Life Service at the funeral home.
