James Edward 'Ed' Harris

James Edward Harris ‘Ed’, 67, of High Point, passed away on September 5, 2018, at his home surrounded by his family after a short battle with cancer.  Born September 19, 1950, to the late Isaac and Maie Harris he spent his youth in Archdale.  He graduated from Trinity High School, Guilford College and Institute of Textile Technology.

Ed is survived by his wife of 46 years, Ann Haworth Harris; his son, Dr. Jim Harris; and his grandsons, Hayes and Mason Harris of Concord, NC.  He is also survived by his sister, Leah Edgerton (David); his brother-in-law, Dr. Allen Haworth (Cici); and brother-in-law, David Haworth; as well as many nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held on Saturday, September 8th, from 6:30-8:30 p.m. at Cumby Family Funeral Service in Archdale.  A memorial service will be held on Sunday, September 9th, at 2:00 p.m. at Archdale Friends Meeting.

Ed worked in the textile industry for 28 years.  He later became a high school math teacher holding positions at Randleman High School and then at Southwest High School.

He was an active member of Archdale Friends Meeting serving at various times as Clerk of the Monthly Meeting and Clerk of Ministry and Counsel.

He was an enthusiastic grandfather taking great delight in his grandsons, Hayes and Mason.  He was also an avid golfer and enjoyed several winters in Fort Myers, FL, pursuing his favorite sport of golf and spending time with family.
