SOPHIA-James Franklin “Buddy” Grainger, 83, entered into eternal rest on Monday, September 17th, 2018.
He was born on January 11, 1935 in Horry County, SC, to Melvin and Effie Mae Fowler Grainger. A resident of this area most of his life, he retired from Ralph Frame Works. Buddy enjoyed watching NASCAR, and his children play basketball. His true love and passion was spending time with his family. In addition to his parents, preceding him in death were a brother, Paul Grainger, and sisters, Georgia Mincey, Annie Belle Williamson, and Bobbie Jean Herring.
He is survived by his wife of 45 years; Janice Hauser Grainger; his sons, Bobby Joe Hauser and his wife, Shirley, James Grainger, Ben Grainger and his wife, Tammy, Richard Grainger; his sisters, Clara Grice, Betty Jean Small and her husband, Buster, Joann Sanders. Also surviving are his grandchildren, Dustin Baker and his wife, Sydney, Jason Hauser, Kelly Grainger, Khloe Grainger and Kerry Grainger; and a number of nieces and nephews.
A service to celebrate Buddy’s life will be held on Saturday morning, September 22, at 10 o’clock, in the chapel of Cumby Family Funeral Service in Archdale, with Pastor Wayne Rouse officiating. Interment will follow in Guilford Memorial Park Cemetery. His family will receive friends Friday night, September 21, from 6 until 8 at the funeral home.
