Tribute

Janice Kay Davis Nickolson, 70, of High Point, went home to be with her Heavenly Father in the early morning hours on Friday, November 23, 2018.

On Wednesday, August 21, 1948 in Sylva, North Carolina, Mary A. Goins Davis and the late Kenneth Davis were blessed to become the parents of Janice Kay Davis Nickolson. The union of Kay’s parents afforded Kay to enjoy not only her parents, but also two sisters along with two brothers.

A resident of Guilford County, NC, for the last two years and seven months, Kay had previously made Lithopolis, Ohio her home.  During the course of her earthly journey, Kay met and became the loving and doting wife of George S. Nickolson, Jr. on April 12, 1973 in Sebring, Florida.  During their 45 year union of holy matrimony, together Kay and George nurtured, loved and cherished, three children (one set of twins), four grandchildren and one great grandchild.

Simultaneously while raising her family, she was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, God mother, daughter, sister and friend to those in her life.  Kay held a solid foundation in her Christian belief throughout her entire life.

Outside of being a role model to her family, Kay enjoyed being a previous member of the Junior Women’s Club, along with membership in the Women’s Club in Sebring, Florida. Amongst her many accomplishments, she was most proud of her published poetry and her dedication to and certification in childcare education.

To know Kay, was to love her. Those who knew her, well, their heart will forever hold a void for her.

Family members who will hold Kay’s memory in their heart are, her loving husband who stood faithfully by Kay’s side, George S. Nickolson, Jr.; her children,  Stephen D. Nickolson (Eunice) and twins, Christina G. Kielbasa (Stash) and William P. Nickolson (Melissa); her 91 year old mother, Mary Alice Davis; four grandchildren, Emily Nickolson, Johanna Nickolson Kate Nickolson, and Mariah Myers; one great-grandchild, Reagan Newhouse; two brothers, Kenneth Davis (Debbie) and Morris Neal Davis; two sisters, Sandra Howard (Reid), Marilyn Diane Davis and along with numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

A Celebration of Kay’s Life will be held on Thursday, November 29, 2018 at 11:30 a.m., in the Chapel of Cumby Family Funeral Service in High Point, with the Reverend Michelle Foster-Beckerleg officiating.  Kay’s family will receive friends at the funeral home on Thursday, November 29, 2018 between the hours of 10:00 a.m. and 11:15 a.m.  Interment for Kay will be at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, November 29, 2018 at Salisbury National Cemetery in Salisbury, North Carolina.
