Ms. Janice Rich Webb, 86, passed away to her eternal life with Christ on Wednesday, April 7, 2021.  She was a resident of River Landing at Sandy Ridge in Colfax where she died peacefully surrounded by family.

She was born October 27, 1934 in Randolph County and resided in High Point for most of her life.  She was preceded in death by her parents, Garth and Eula Rich of Archdale, and former spouse, Lewis Andrew Webb of Hickory, NC.

Janice was employed with the N.C. Employment Security Commission for 40 years before retiring in 2000.  She was hired as a stenographer in 1960, was promoted to Employment Consultant in 1964 and then to Employment Placement Supervisor in 1987.  She was well known in High Point for job placement and assisted many in the Triad area with job opportunities while taking pride in her work.  She was a dedicated State employee who enjoyed her career and received the Employment Security Commission Award in recognition of exceptional performance to the State of North Carolina and its citizens.  Janice was an active member of the International Association of Employment Security serving as a Chairperson in 1970.  She was also involved with the State Employees Association for 40 years and continued her membership as a retiree.

After retirement from the ESC, Janice continued her career as an intermittent Employment Consultant for ten years and also worked for Culp Inc. and the International Home Furnishings Center during spring and fall Furniture Market.

Janice was a member of the United Church of Christ, Union Ridge Community in Burlington, NC.  Prior to that, she was a member of St. Timothy Methodist Church in High Point and Archdale Nazarene Church, where she was a worship pianist.  Her childhood years were spent at Archdale United Methodist Church in Archdale, NC.

Janice is survived by her loving family, a son, Mark Andrew Webb (Jerri) and grandson, Connor Mosack both of Charlotte;  brother, Benny E. Rich (JoAnne), niece, Holly Ferree (Joey), nephew, Daniel Rich (April);  great nephew, Garrett Rich; two great nieces, Emeline Rich and Ansley Ferree all of High Point; and former spouse, Harrell Barrington of Burlington, NC.

Janice will be remembered by her family and friends as being devoted, loving, thoughtful, generous, and for creating special memories.  She had the gift of hospitality and loved nothing more than gathering her family together for birthdays and holidays.  Her wit, sense of humor, smile, and laughter will be missed by all who knew her.

A special Thank You is extended to the outstanding Staff at River Landing for their love, care, and support provided to Janice during her residence.  A celebration of life service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, April 16, 2021 in the chapel of the Cumby Family Funeral Service in High Point.  A private committal service will follow at Floral Garden Park Mausoleum in High Point.  The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.  Memorials may be directed to Big Brothers Big Sisters of the Central Piedmont at www.bbbscp.org.
