Jeanette (Hill) Wingfield

High Point – Jeanette Hill Wingfield, 74, of 405 Aberdeen Road, entered Heaven on Wednesday, January 5, 2022, now with the Lord and reunited with her parents and loved ones. Born the only child of George and Elaine Hill, on December 31, 1947, in High Point.

Jeanette lived in High Point all her life, attending city schools and Continental Beauty College. After graduation, she owned and operated Charm-ette Beauty Salon from 1968 to 1973. In January 1974 until 1985, she began working for North State Telephone Company as a long-distance operator. After taking the Postal exam in 1985, she was hired immediately, where she retired and was honored for 25 years with NALC Branch 630 Westside Carrier Facilities in Greensboro. She always said she loved the job and everyone she worked with.

Jeanette’s daddy died in May 1989, and her mother lived with her until her death in May 2007. They were more than mother and daughter, they were best friends, where you see one, there was both.

Jeanette loved her church, Brentwood Baptist on Gordon Road. She accepted Christ and was baptized by Rev. Charles Monk at 12 when Brentwood Baptist was on Brentwood Street. Until her mother’s health declined, she was so grateful and happy to fill in on the piano for the regular pianist when she was sick. She always said she knew she couldn’t play real well, but she sure loved trying.

Jeanette is survived by sons, Eddie Ray Bishop and wife, Donna, and granddaughter, Kristina. Kenny Bishop and wife, Mirandy, grandchildren, Alexander, Nicolas, Jacob, Aidan, Corbin, and Avery Bishop.

A special thanks to her former daughter-in-law, Maureen Murtagh, mother of Alexander, Nicolas and Jacob.

Memorial service will be 1:00 p.m., Saturday, January 15th, in the chapel of Cumby Family Funeral Service in High Point.
