Tribute

Mr. Gerald “Jerry” Floyd Heins, 77, resident of High Point, died May 4, 2022 at Hospice Home at High Point.

Jerry was born May 2, 1945 in Milwaukee, WI, a son to Arthur and Alice Webere Heins.  As a longtime resident of Wisconsin, he worked many years as an independent farmer, having purchased land from his father, and later joined Green Bay Packaging until his retirement.  He also served and was a veteran of the U.S. Army.  In 1995, he married the former Barbara “Bunny” Lasch and together they moved to Missouri in 2001, and later North Carolina in 2006.  Jerry had a passion for woodworking, and enjoyed his post-retirement years displaying and selling his creations at the Sandy Ridge Farmer’s Market in Colfax.  There he enjoyed meeting new people and sharing his time and talents.  He also loved hunting, fishing, and spending time at his home farm back in Wisconsin.  Especially, he loved his family and the time he was able to spend with them.  He was a wonderful husband, father and grandfather.

Surviving is his wife, Barbara “Bunny” Reese-Heins of High Point; five children, Renee Heins (Craig) of Shawano, WI, Roxanne Runge (John) of Suring, WI, Laura Strehlow (Gary) of Suring, WI, Gerald Heins (Stephanie) of Green Bay, WI, and Candace Baumler (Bryan) of Abrams, WI; a step-daughter, Stephanie Reese (Katy) of High Point, NC; a step-son, Adam Reese (Christy) of Huntsville, AL; two sisters, Shirley Jenkins and Janet Riley; a brother, Kenneth Heins; and eleven grandchildren, Travis (Nichole), Nichole, Steven, Mason, Danielle (Joe), Erin (Seth), Samuel, Maximus, Chase, Brielle, and Samantha.  In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his grandson, Michael, and his brother, Wayne.

A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, May 6, 2022, at St. Michael’s Lutheran Church in High Point with Reverend Bernard Hess officiating.  A second memorial service will be held at a later date in Wisconsin.  Cumby Family Funeral Service in High Point is assisting the family.
