Jimmy Ray Morefield

ARCHDALE – Jimmy “Jim” Ray Morefield, 73, died Sunday, November 29, 2020 at his residence.

He was born June 10, 1947 in Washington County, Virginia and was the son of the late Ray W. and Pearl Viola Bailey Morefield. Jimmy served with the U.S. Army Special Forces, 82nd Airborne Division, during the Vietnam War where he had been held captive as a POW. He worked as a security guard with IHFC for many years, enjoyed fishing and watching western movies.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers.

Jimmy is survived by his wife, Donna Teer Moorefield, whom he married on June 28, 1985; son, Joseph “Joe” Moorefield (Heather); daughter, Amber Moorefield of the home; and grandson, Watson Moorefield.

Memorial service celebrating Jimmy’s life will be held 2:00 PM Saturday, December 5, 2020, in the Chapel of Cumby Family Funeral Service with military honors accorded by the Randolph County Honor Guard.

Burial will take place at a later date at the National Cemetery in Salisbury.
