Mrs. Betty Joann “Jo” Burgess Turner, 87, resident of Greensboro, died July 12, 2021 at Beacon Place Hospice.
She was born February 14, 1934 in Guilford County, a daughter to Paul M. and Leo Fay McCrickard Burgess. As a resident of this area all her life, she was a member of Mt. Calvary Baptist Church and retired from Adams Woodturning. Jo was a wonderful, compassionate, and caring person who never met a stranger. She also was an animal lover and especially fond of cats.
Surviving is her brother, Donald Burgess of Greensboro; three nephews, Donald Scott Burgess, Samuel Timothy Burgess, and Eugene Pharis; two great nieces, Angel Burgess and Olivia Burgess; a great nephew, Chase Burgess; and several extended family and friends.
A graveside service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday at Floral Garden Park Cemetery in High Point with Rev. Brady Huneycutt officiating. Memorials may be directed to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital at 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN, 38105.
