Joan Mildred (Estridge) Traylor

High Point – Joan Mildred Estridge Traylor, 82, passed away peacefully at Hospice Home at High Point on Friday, June 26, 2020.

Joan was born in Charlotte, NC on June 10, 1938 to the late Rowland Basil Estridge and Mildred Davis Estridge. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husband of 46 years, James Alexander Traylor.

Joan was a loving mother and grandmother. She truly enjoyed time spent with her family on any occasion and was happiest when surrounded by her children and grandchildren at family gatherings.

Joan graduated from Central High School in Charlotte and attended Roanoke Rapids school of Nursing. She retired from North State Communications in 2005 after 35 years of service as a telephone operator. She enjoyed gardening, music and shopping in the years following her retirement. She also enjoyed her trips to the coast, where she spent much of her childhood in the family home in Myrtle Beach, SC.

Those who will cherish Joan’s memories are; her children, Jeffrey D. Traylor and wife, Laura of High Point, James A. Traylor, Jr.  and wife, Connie of Archdale, Julie Traylor Richardson and Jeffrey Hicks of Colfax; grandchildren, Robert Taylor Richardson, Eric Alexander Traylor, Andrew Dean Traylor, and sister Jerrie Avery and husband, Bob.

The family will greet friends from 10:00 until 10:45 before a funeral service at 11:00a.m. on Wednesday, July 1, 2020 in the Chapel of Cumby Family Funeral Service at 1015 Eastchester Drive in High Point.  Pastor Harold Shives will officiate and burial will follow at Floral Garden Park Cemetery.

The family would like to thank the caregivers at Brookdale Memory Care Skeet Club for taking good care of their Mom for the past 2 ½ years.
