High Point – John Franklin Carroll, 81, passed away on Saturday, April 17, 2021 at Moses H. Cone Hospital.
John was born in High Point on December 30, 1939 to the late John Robe Carroll and Winona Barber Carroll. In addition to his parents, his daughter Rebecca Lynn Carroll also preceded John in death.
John was a devoted husband, outstanding father & father in law and the best grandfather John and Julia could ask for. Although he only had two biological grandchildren, the number of people who referred to him and Carolyn as “Nana and Poppa” was a tribute to the two of them.
John was a talented furniture designer for over forty years who had a love of music and enjoyed singing in the choir at St. Michael’s Lutheran Church in the 1970’s. John loved watching his grandchildren play basketball, golf, baseball and softball. If there were a game he and Nana were sure to be in the stands.
His love of family and friends was evident in everything he did and he will be missed.
John is survived by his wife of 61 years, Carolyn Rebecca Bible Carroll; son, Johnny W. Carroll and wife, Suzanne Foster Carroll of Jamestown; sister Jane Underwood of High Point; two grandchildren, Julia and John Carroll; a nephew and niece. His beloved dog, CeCe will miss him, also.
The family will greet friends from 12:45 until 1:45 p.m. on Wednesday April 21, 2021 at Cumby Family Funeral Service at 1015 Eastchester Drive in High Point. A celebration of life service will follow at 2:00 p.m. with Pastor Aaron Martin officiating. Entombment will follow in the Mausoleum of Floral Garden Park Cemetery.
