Mr. John Lee Linder, Jr., 91, of High Point, passed away Tuesday, April 18, 2017, at his residence.
Born November 1, 1925, in Durham County, John was the son of the late John and Myrtle Poe Linder. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his wife, Eleanor Louise Clark Linder, son, Charles Dewey Linder, sister, Frances Linder Jones, and brother, James Baxter Linder. John graduated from the former Greensboro High School and from NC State University with a degree in Civil Engineering. He was a veteran of the Army Air Corps, and was a member of Springfield Friends Meeting. He owned and operated the former Sun Seed Company in Greensboro. John was an avid gardener and horticulturist and was well known for his flower and vegetable gardens.
Survivors include his daughter, Jennie Boulden and husband, Bruce; two grandsons, Christopher Whiteside and wife, Lesley Williams, and Jacob Linder and wife, Ashley Davenport; three great grandchildren, James Lucas Linder, Madeline Davenport, and Houston Davenport; a special nephew, Richard “Pete” Oliphant; and numerous other nieces and nephews and their families.
The family will receive friends Thursday night from 6 until 8 at Cumby Family Funeral Service in Archdale. The service of committal will be held 10:45 a.m. Friday at Floral Garden Memorial Park Cemetery. A service to celebrate John’s life followed by a reception will be held 12:00 p.m. Friday at Springfield Friends Meeting, officiated by Pastor Joshua Brown.
