Mr. John Ellyson Ramsey, Jr., 83, resident of High Point, died February 10, 2021 at Hospice Home at High Point.
He was born February 7, 1938 in Martinsville, Virginia, a son of John Ellyson Ramsey Sr. and Louise Turner Ramsey. After graduating from Wake Forest University, he married the former Peggy Joyce Woodard on June 11, 1960. The following year, they moved to High Point where John worked as a Certified Public Accountant over 40 years until his retirement in 2010. He also joined Green St. Baptist Church where he was a deacon and member of the John Riggs Sunday School Class.
Surviving is his wife, Peggy Ramsey of High Point; son, Paul E. Ramsey and wife Tina of Lewisville; daughter, Elizabeth Anne “Liz” Zadeits and husband Bill of Cary; a brother, Rev. Douglas T. Ramsey of Martinsville, VA; five grandchildren, Courtney Smith and husband Morgan of High Point, Chad Ramsey of Lewisville, and Rachel, Abby, and Macy Zadeits of Cary; and a great granddaughter, Ellyson Smith.
A graveside service will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Monday at Floral Garden Park Cemetery in High Point with Dr. Robert Steele officiating. The service formally scheduled for 2:00 p.m. Monday in the chapel has been cancelled. Memorials may be directed to Green St. Baptist Church, 303 N.
