John W. Springer, Jr, age 78, went home to be with the Lord and his loved ones on July 1, 2018.
He was born October 9, 1939 to John and Hazel Springer in Monroe, N.C. At the age of 17 he joined the Air Force as a radio operator and was stationed in Sacramento, CA. On July 6, 1957 he married Mariless (Marty) Morgan. He was an avid golfer and HAM radio operator. He also loved playing the guitar and singing with his wife. He was a brick mason for thirteen years and in 1974 he started driving a truck and continued to drive for 30 years. He was of the Baptist faith and attended Woodlawn Baptist Church as often as he could.
He is survived by his wife, Mariless (Marty) Springer of the home; daughters, Deborah Hammons and husband, Jerry, of Clemmons, and Terri Mitchell, of High Point; granddaughters, Amanda Huffman and fiancé, Bruce McCauley of Archdale; Jennifer Dempsey and husband, Josh of Trinity; six great grandchildren, Anthony Zakos, Ashley Dempsey, Casey Crayton, Jordan Dempsey, Kyle Dempsey and Peyton McCauley; two great-great grandchildren, Brody and Liam Zakos; and his best four paw friend “BO”. Also surviving are his brothers, David Springer, of Trinity, and Mike Springer, of High Point; sisters, Joann Bowman and Becky Castevens, both of High Point; and numerous nieces and nephews.
A Memorial Service will be held Sunday, July 8, 2018, at 2: 00 p.m., at Woodlawn Baptist Church, in High Point, officiated by Rev. Josh Gentle and Rev. Steve Hill, with a Celebration of Life immediately following the service in the fellowship hall.
