HIGH POINT – Joseph Phillip Boyce died Sunday, April 18, 2021 at his residence.
He was born March 12, 1932 in York County, Virginia and was the son of the late Oscar K. and Evelyn Caddy Boyce. He was a U.S. Army veteran and served as a paratrooper in the 82nr Airborne. He was a retired lineman with Duke Power Company and a member of Sophia Baptist Church. Joseph was a 32nd degree Mason in the Acacia Masonic Lodge 674 and was an honorary member of the Bush Hill Masonic Lodge 732. He was a member of the Scottish Rite and the Oasis Shriner Temple in Charlotte. He was strong supporter of the North Carolina Highway Patrol and loved his family and friends.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Doris White Boyce whom he married on July 4, 1952; son-in-law, Mike Blizzard; grandson, Chris Robertson; brothers, John Boyce, Oscar Boyce and Robert Boyce; and sister, Mary Boyce.
Joseph is survived by his daughter, Gail Boyce Blizzard of Thomasville; loving nephews, Andy Osborne and wife, Debbie, of Sophia and Ed Osborne of Sunset Beach, NC; brother, Franklin Boyce and wife, Betty, of Colonial Heights, VA; several special nieces and nephews; and a faithful caregiver, Leslie McDonald.
Funeral service celebrating Joseph’s life will be held 12:00pm Thursday, April 22, 2021 in the Chapel of Cumby Family Funeral Service with Rev. Bill Barnes and Rev. Bruno Wolf officiating. Burial will follow at Floral Garden Memorial Park Cemetery with military honors accorded by the Randolph County Honor Guard and Masonic rites administered by the Acacia and Bush Hill Masonic Lodges.
The family will receive friends from 10:45 to 11:45am Thursday at the funeral home prior to the service.
