Joseph (Joe) G. Beason

ASHEBORO - Joseph (Joe) G. Beason passed away peacefully on Saturday, February 13, 2021, at High Point Medical Center / Wake Forest Baptist Health.

He was born in Level Cross (Randolph County), NC on July 16, 1925, the son of the late Zola Beason Rush and Joseph Metters. He was raised by his mother and stepfather, Causey Rush. He also had a special uncle, Walter “Ruffin” Beason, who helped raise him and whom he loved dearly. While growing up in Randolph County, Joe loved to spend time outdoors and his favorite activities were fishing and hunting with his best friend, Bud Hodgin. He joined the US Army and served in Germany during WWII. In 1955 he married Revonda (Vonda) Neely, and they were married for 49 years.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Revonda, and an infant son.

He is survived by his six daughters, Rita B. Ward (David) of Archdale, Sue B. Dennis (Bill), of Franklinville, JoAnn B. Frisby (Garrett), Marlene Beason, Sharon B. Ashworth, and Sheila B. Stanley (Jeff), all of Asheboro; twelve grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. Also surviving are two sisters in law, Elsie Neely of Orwell, Ohio and Carolyn Neely of Asheboro.

A graveside service celebrating Joe’s life will be held 2:00 P.M. Monday, February 22 at Mt. Olive Wesleyan Church Cemetery with Reverend Wayne Byrd and Reverend Joe Farlow officiating. Military Honors will be accorded by the US Army Honor Guard and the Randolph County Honor Guard.

The family will speak with friends at the church cemetery from 12:00 to 1:30 P.M. Monday prior to service, weather permitting. Masks and social distancing will be strictly observed.
