SOPHIA- Joy Myers Morton, 75, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Wednesday, April 11, 2018.
She was born on April 5, 1943 in Guilford County to the late Marchant and Myrtle Grant Campbell. She was a Military wife who moved from place to place every few years, but has been a resident of this area for most of her life, she worked for years at the Brigman Clinic as Office Manager, and was a member of Archdale Assembly of God. Joy enjoyed her flower garden and traveling. Her true love and passion was spending time with her family. She was a loving wife, mother grandmother, sister and friend and will be missed dearly. In addition to her parents, preceding her in death were her first husband, MSG Pete Myers, retired, US Army.
She leaves to cherish her memory; her husband, Charlie Morton; her children, Fran Meador, Pastor Billy Myers and wife, Wendy, Sandi Jandt and husband, Daniel; her siblings, Texie Ward, Darlene Sievers, Tommy Hunt, and Danny Hunt. Also surviving are her grandchildren, Eric Everette and wife, Mallory, Melanie Myers, Mackenzie Lohr and husband, Dustin, Robin Sloan, Hayley Smith and husband, Memphis, and Haley Hunt; her great grandchildren, Malachi Everette, Makayla Everette, and Pandora Smith.
When she Married Charlie Morton she added his children Charles Morton and wife Michelle, Rhonda Eltiste and husband Michael and grandchildren Katie Morton, and Ashlynn Morton
Joy had an incredible capacity for love and acceptance and she opened her home to her bonus children, Becky Hunt, who married Greg, and Matthew Turner who married Andrea. Because of this, her life was further enriched by bonus grandchildren and great-grandchildren; Tristen, Jot, Joshua, Ciara, Taylor, and Dot. Joy had some especially dear friends who regarded her as Mom and Grandma; Hope and Lloyd Sellers, and Gabriel Ashburn.
A service to celebrate Joy’s life will be held on Saturday, April 14, at 2 pm, at Archdale Assembly of God, with Pastor Billy Myers and Pastor Matthew Turner officiating. Interment will be Sunday, April 15, at 10 am at Floral Garden Memorial Park Cemetery. Her family will receive friends on Friday, April 13, from 6 until 8 pm at Cumby Family Funeral Service in Archdale.
