ARCHDALE-Junny O. Jackson, 68, passed away on October 1st, 2019.
He was born on March 15th, 1951 in Jackson County, NC to the late T.A. and Jesse Fisher Jackson. A resident of this area most of his life, he was a 10 year veteran of the US Air Force, having served in Vietnam, Thailand, and later went on to complete NCO Leadership School. He was a truck driver and retired after 40 years of service, driving last for Baker Furniture. Junny was a dedicated and faithful servant of the Lord serving as a Youth Leader for many years. He was knighted on April 5th, 2003 into the Sovereign Military Order of the Temple of Jerusalem. His dedication to the Priory of the Saint Thomas a’ Becket elevated him to the rank of Grand Officer of the Temple of Jerusalem (GOTJ). He instructed new Postulates (prospective Knights) as the Priory’s Master of Postulates, a position he served honorably and faithfully for years. He was a member of the Clan Campbell where he served as Regional Commissioner and a member of the Scottish American Military Society (SAMS Post 1775) where he served as Post Commander, Vice Commander and National Deputy Commander. He was cofounder of the Triad Highland Games and served as liaison between the Triad Highland Games in Archdale, NC USA and Inverness Highland Games in Inverness, Scotland. Junny enjoyed fishing, traveling, gardening, making new friends and sitting on the porch drinking coffee. His true love and passion was spending time with his family. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and friend and will be dearly missed. In addition to his parents, preceding him in death were 2 sisters, Betty Jo Jackson Clark and Sandra Jackson Craven.
He leaves to cherish his memory, his wife of 50 years; Ann Secreast Jackson; his daughters, Jennie Baker and her husband, Mish; Carol Johnson and her husband, Mike; his son, Kevin Harris and his wife, Jenny; his brother, Albert Lee Jackson and his wife, Bonnie. Also surviving are his grandchildren, Christian, Lauren Ann, Hailey, Myla, Aidan, Levi, Mason, Noah, Jorja, Kirby Oliver and a number of nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews.
A service to celebrate Junny’s life will be held on Sunday afternoon, October 6th, at 2 o’clock in the chapel of Cumby Family Funeral Service in Archdale, with Pastor Steve Hill officiating. Interment with Military Honors accorded by the Scottish American Military Society and the Randolph County Honor Guard, will follow in Floral Garden Memorial Park Cemetery. His family will receive friends from 6 until 8 pm Saturday, October 5th, at the funeral home.
