Kenneth Alpha Simmons, 75, of High Point entered into his heavenly home on Thursday, September 13, 2018.
Kenneth was born in Surry County, NC on April 20, 1943 to the late Alpha Omega Simmons and Eva Elizabeth Caudle Simmons.
Kenneth graduated from Campbell University with a bachelor’s degree in business. He served in the United States Air Force and received multiple awards for his outstanding service. Kenneth was an entrepreneur at heart and founded businesses with creative and innovative concepts. He enjoyed woodworking, gardening, and traveling across the country and had a special fondness for his dogs. He attended High Point Friends Meeting and was a longtime member of Wesley Memorial United Methodist Church. His faith was evident in the way he lived his life. He was a devoted husband and could be seen singing in the choir whenever his wife was directing music. Kenneth particularly enjoyed time with his daughters and grandchildren where he was known for his mischievous grin and belly laugh as he shared stories with them.
Those who will cherish Kenneth’s memories are, his wife of 51 years Wanda Bullington Simmons; daughters, Heidi Birkner Gordon and husband, Eric of Kernersville, Cherie Simmons Moretz and husband, Darren of Boone, Rachele Simmons-Taling and husband, Paul of New Zealand; brothers, J. Dale Simmons and wife, Lea of Mt. Airy, Glenn Simmons and wife, Eleanor of Hillsville, VA; grandchildren, Jordan Birkner, Kyra Birkner, Grace Gordon, James Moretz, John Moretz, Jacob Moretz, Kees Taling, Alexander Taling; extended family, and many dear friends.
A memorial service to honor Kenneth’s life will be held 3:00 pm on Saturday, September 22, 2018 at the Chapel of Cumby Family Funeral Service, 1015 Eastchester Drive in High Point. The service will be officiated by Kathy Kellum, minister and Terry Venable, minister of High Point Friends Meeting.
The family will greet friends from 2:00 until 2:45pm prior to the service.
Burial will take place at 2:00pm on Sunday, September 23, 2018 at Skyline Memory Gardens, 432 Old Buck Shoals Road in Mt. Airy.
Memorial contributions in Kenneth’s honor may be made to the charity of one’s choice.
