Larry James Ferree, age 76, husband of Gaynelle Wright Ferree, passed away on Monday, April 26, 2021.
Born in High Point, he was a son of the late Stuart Parker Ferree and Emma Callicutt Ferree. Mr. Ferree retired from Highland Yarn Mills following 35 years of service and was the Manager of Henry James BBQ for 25 years. He found a lot of joy working at Vann York Honda in his retirement and was very fond of his coworkers, especially the service and parts department. He was very athletic and played football and ran track for High Point Central High School. As an adult, Mr. Ferree was in a fast-pitch softball travel league. He was an avid NASCAR and Kyle Busch fan, enjoyed watching golf, and loved watching his grandchildren play sports. Mr. Ferree was a NY Yankee’s, Carolina Panthers, and UNC Tar Heel basketball fan. He was a friendly man who cared for all people and was always willing to help.
In addition to his wife, Mr. Ferree is survived by a daughter, Kim Ferree Jarrell; a son, Joey Ferree (Holly); three grandchildren, Jessica Jarrell, Jordan Jarrell, and Ansley Ferree; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was predeceased by two brothers, Jack Ferree and Jay Ferree; his beloved sister, Zethel Yarborough; and his dog who was a true companion, Lilly.
A memorial service will be held at 12:00 PM on Saturday, May 1, 2021 in the Cumby Family Funeral Service Chapel, 1015 Eastchester Drive, High Pont, NC 27262, with Rev. Wendy Barnes officiating. The family will receive friends on Saturday from 11:00 AM – 12:00 PM prior to the service.
