Laureen Mary Lynch (Laurie) of High Point passed away peacefully on Sunday, March 10, 2019, at WFBH High Point Medical Center after her courageous battle with cancer.
Laurie was born on August 13, 1949, in Fitchburg, Massachusetts, to the late Philip Lynch and Claramae (Terry) Lynch. She studied music education at the University of Massachusetts at Lowell and taught in local schools as well as private piano, voice, and guitar lessons. She was also active in musical theater groups as a performer and/or choreographer. Laurie moved to High Point four years ago to join her friends, Larry and Billie Porter. She is a member of First Presbyterian Church of High Point, where she sang with the choir and participated in other church activities.
At home, Laurie enjoyed reading, jigsaw puzzles, visiting with friends, and the company of the Porter’s grandchildren, who affectionately know her as “Auntie Laurie.” She leaves behind cousins and many loving friends in Massachusetts, as well as the many friends she has made since coming to High Point.
A celebration of Laurie’s life will take place at the First Presbyterian Church, 918 North Main Street, High Point, on Sunday, March 17, 2019, at 4:00 pm. The Rev. Dr. Ken Broman-Fulks will be officiating. Following the service, there will be a reception for friends at the residence.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to First Presbyterian Church or the charity of one’s choice.
