Lillian Landry Neely

Jamestown – Lillian Landry Neely, 86, passed away Friday, July 16, 2021.

Born September 6, 1934, in High Point, Landry was the daughter of the late Eugene Austin and Lillian (Landry) Neely. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by five brothers, Sid, Austin, Byrd, Steve and Bill Neely. Landry attended High Point City Schools and graduated from High Point High School in 1952. She graduated from St. Mary of the Woods College in Indiana. After college, she taught algebra at High Point Central and math at Ferndale Jr. High, and later worked at the Central Offices in High Point and Greensboro. She retired after 36 years in the school system.

Landry was a member of the Beta Xi Chapter of the North Carolina Organization of Delta Kappa Gamma Society International for 51 years. She served in many offices and was state treasurer for many years.

Landry is survived by her brother, Jim Neely and wife, Betty, of Wilmington, her sister, Mary Neely Poff, of Jamestown, and two sisters-in-law, Carolyn Neely, of Richmond, and Judy Neely, of MN. She is also survived by many beloved nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews, and great-great nieces and nephews.

The family wishes to extend their gratitude to Landry’s caregivers, Mulunesh Wakene, Fasika Asemrie, Rasheedat Saheed, and Angelica Elarcosa Hairston for the care and support given during her illness.

A memorial service will be held 11:00 a.m., Saturday, August 7th, in the chapel of Cumby Family Funeral Service in High Point. A reception will follow in the funeral home’s Life Tribute Center.
