Sophia- Lindley “Jay” Spencer, 79, went to be with the Lord on November 29, 2022.
Jay was born September 5, 1943 in Guilford County, NC and was the son of the late Cletus John and Annie Laura (Ellington) Spencer. Jay was an electrician owning his own company in Texas later returning to High Point and retiring from Beco Electric. Jay was loved by many and will be greatly missed. He was a very special person and has made an impact on many lives. Jay had a laugh like no other it was contagious. He was caring, loving, and an enthusiastic Dallas Cowboys fan. Jay was of the Baptist faith. He loved being outdoors in nature, watching wildlife, and enjoyed a good cup of coffee. In addition to his parents preceding him in death were his sister Janice Howard and his brother John Spencer.
He leaves to cherish his memory, his loving companion of 37 years Melva Spivey, his daughter, Ginger Miller; his son, Lindley Jay Spencer Jr; 3 grandchildren, Danielle, Christopher, and Kimberley, and several great grandchildren and his companions daughter, Billie Hill and husband Hank and their children Dru and Allison.
A service to celebrate Jay’s life will be held on Monday December 5, 2022 at 2:00 in the chapel of Cumby Family Funeral Service, Archdale with Pastor Roger Carmichael officiating. The committal service will follow at Floral Garden Memorial Park Cemetery. His family will receive friends on Monday from 12:45 p.m. until 1:45 p.m. at the funeral home.
