Lois Elizabeth Gibson Johnson, 91, passed away peacefully on Sunday, December 1, 2019 at WFBH-High Point Medical Center.
Betty, as known to her family and friends, was born in Richmond County on May 2, 1928 to the late Archie Clinton Gibson and Lucy May Seago Gibson. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, John Robert Johnson; sons, Archie Ronald Dawkins; sibling, Frances Boan, Joe Gibson and Connie Lathan.
Betty was a member of Emerywood Baptist Church where she was very active serving on the Committee of senior citizens and helping to serve Wednesday night meals at the church. She had a love for dancing and belonged to several dance clubs. Her and her husband enjoying traveling and visited all 50 states at least twice. She will be missed by her many friends and church family.
Those in her family who will cherish her memories are her children, William David Dawkins (Kathy) of High Point, Libby Priddy (Alan) of Thomasville, Larry Kenny Dawkins of North Myrtle Beach,
Butch” Dawkins (Penny) of Asheboro; brothers and sisters, Mabel Polk, Docia Bridwell, Reece Gibson, Clint Gibson; 13 grandchildren; 20 plus great-grandchildren; 3 great-great-grandchildren and an abundance of nieces and nephews.
The family will visit with friends from 11:00 until 11:45 a.m. on Saturday, December 7, 2019 at Emerywood Baptist Church 1300 Country Club Road in High Point. A funeral service will follow at 12:00 p.m., officiated by Reverend Timothy Peoples.
