HIGH POINT – Lois Cromer Smith, 96, died Tuesday, July 16, 2019, at the Hospice Home at High Point.
She was born October 7, 1922, in Stokes County and was the daughter of the late Dewitt Cicero and Hattie Smith Cromer. She was a long-time member of Green Street Baptist Church. Lois retired from Drexel Heritage Furniture following thirty years of service, and in the 1940’s served as J. Edgar Hoover’s secretary at the FBI. She was a long-time resident of Archdale and was well-known for her beautiful, prize-winning roses.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, John E. Smith; and four brothers.
Lois is survived by her two children, Doug Smith and wife Nancy, of Greensboro and Linda Michael and husband, James, of Archdale; three grandchildren, Dan Norman and wife, Lisa, of Lexington, Chris Smith of Statesville and Chad Smith of High Point; two step-grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
Funeral service celebrating Lois’ life will be held at 12:00 pm Thursday, July 18, 2019, in the Chapel of Cumby Family Funeral Service in Archdale with Rev. Frank Hensley officiating. Burial will follow at Floral Garden Memorial Park Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 11:00 to 11:45 am on Thursday at the funeral home prior to the service.
