Lorraine Saunders, 93, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, December 10, 2019 at her residence.
Lorraine was born April 21, 1926 in Davidson County to the late Thomas R. Proctor and Bessie Stalker Proctor. In addition to her parents, Lorraine was preceded in death in 1989 by her husband of 43 years, George Franklin Saunders; brothers, R.V., Clyde, McKinley, Bobby, Elmer Proctor; sisters, Arlene Moore, Maxine Robbins, Hazel Whitfield, Virginia White and Lavata Babson.
Lorraine was a woman of strong faith in Jesus Christ. A member of Woodlawn Baptist church attending as long as her health permitted.
Lorraine enjoyed being a loving mother, being “Memaw” to her grandchildren and great-grandchildren and loved spending time with her large family. Her family described her as “perfect” and “an amazing woman”. Always there for them to anchor their lives. She loved Christmas and the gathering of her family together and sharing and caring for each other.
She was a great cook, enjoyed flower gardening, ceramics and any opportunity to take care of her grandchildren. A sports fan cheering for the Panthers, the Braves,UNC Tarheels basketball and most sports.
Those who will cherish her memories are her son, David Saunders and wife, Patti of High Point; daughter, Vickie Saunders and special friend, Darrell of High Point; grandchildren, Layne Ros and husband, Billy, Ryan Saunders; and great-grandchildren, Oliver and Hattie Ros and many nieces and nephews.
The family wishes to express their heartfelt thanks to the caregivers who served their mother, Ruth, Neshea, Wanda and all the care staff of All Generation Homecare.
The family will receive friends from 11:00 until 11:45 a.m. on Friday, December 13, 2019 at Cumby Family Funeral Service, 1015 Eastchester Drive in High Point. A funeral service will be at 12:00 p.m. in the Chapel with Reverend Charlie Patrick officiating and burial will follow at Floral Garden Park Cemetery. Family will be at Lorraine’s house following the service for those who would like to come by.
