Louis Jordan Dozier, 59, passed away Thursday evening, May 20, 2021 in the Wake Forest Baptist Health High Point Medical Center after an extended illness. At the time of his death, Mr. Dozier was a resident of High Point, NC and was employed with Leggett & Platt. He was born and reared in Nash County on June 22, 1961 to the late Hilliard Wilson Dozier, Sr. and Bessie Thomas Dozier. Additionally, he was married to Pearl Turner Dozier of Winston-Salem, NC. Mr. Dozier was a graduate of Northern Nash High School Class of 1979. Later, he served in the United States Marine Corps Reserve as a Lance Corporal (LCpl). His last duty assignment was in Beaufort, SC where he served as an Aircraft Safety Equipment Mechanic. He served from December 1981 until February 1986 and received the Good Conduct Medal of service.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by one sister, Linda Dozier; six brothers, Donald Dozier; Artis Dozier; Richard Dozier; William Dozier; Christopher Dozier; and Hilliard “Wilson” Dozier, Jr.
He is survived by his wife and two daughters Nicole Turner and Dr. Nedra Dozier- Harrison (Shon) of Winston-Salem, NC; three brothers, James Dozier of Roosevelt, NY; Haywood Dozier and John Robert Dozier of Rocky Mount, NC; three sisters, Mable Pendergrass of Winston-Salem, NC; Betty Jean Archie of Dinwiddie, VA; and Evangeline Lyons of Greensboro, NC; five grandchildren, Devontae Harrison; Trenton Dozier; Abria Rainey; Asante’ Rainey; and Amare’ Rainey; of Winston-Salem, NC; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
The burial will take place this weekend in light of the Memorial Day Holiday. A private memorial service will be held at a later date. The family would like to thank the staff and services provided by Cumby Family Funeral Service in High Point, NC.
