Lucille Ethel (Clark) Crawford

Lucille Ethel Clark Crawford, 92, died Friday, June 14, 2019 at her home at the Foley Center at Chestnut Ridge in Blowing Rock, NC.

Lucille was born December 17, 1926 in High Point, NC, a daughter of Delmer Ibrey Clark and Flora Ethel Dalton Clark.  She attended High Point City Schools, graduating from High Point High School (High Point Central) in 1944.  She continued her education at Ashmore Business College before taking a job as a bookkeeper at English Motor Company.  She later worked at Globe Furniture, Herb Payne Auto Supply, and High Point Auto Auction.

On April 19, 1953, she married Herman Earl Crawford, who survives of the home.  They celebrated their 66th anniversary this past April.  They have two children, Connie Crawford Goff (husband Jim), and Kent Crawford (wife Lynn).  Their marriage was an example of love and support.  Grandchildren are Gideon Goff (wife Sarah), Kacy Lingle (husband Jason), Douglas Crawford (wife Lexi), and Elizabeth Crawford.  Great granddaughters are Susanna Goff and Genevieve Goff.

Lucille enjoyed helping Herman with the many auctions he conducted, including estate sales, city salvage sales, and charitable events.  Her accounting skills were a great asset to his work.  As a couple, they enjoyed golfing, dancing, and serving their church and community.  They also loved to travel, whether it was by car, bus, train, plane, or cruise ship.

They have many friendships that were cultivated with their fellow travelers, golfing buddies, and dance club partners.  Lucille volunteered with the American Red Cross, Meals on Wheels, The Salvation Army, and helped with various charitable events and Lions Club fundraisers.  She was also a member of a long standing Canasta club, the Dogwood Garden Club, the Lady Lions, and the Skin Parker Sunday School Class.  Reared Primitive Baptist, she retained an unwavering faith in Christ and in His awesome power and grace.  She was a member and served on various committees of her church, Emerywood Baptist.

Lucille will mostly be remembered as a wonderful mother, grandmother, and great grandmother.  She was always encouraging and supportive of growth and adventure.  She welcomed her children's friends into her home and always made them feel welcomed and a part of the family.  Her grandchildren will never forget the fun games and activities she created and played with them.  Lucille had a true love of her extended family and friends.

The family will receive friends from 1:00 – 2:00 p.m., Monday, June 17, 2019 in the Gathering Area of Emerywood Baptist Church in High Point.  Funeral services will follow at 2:00 p.m. in the sanctuary with Rev. Timothy Peoples and Dr. James R. Goff officiating.  An additional period of visitation will immediately follow the service.  A private family interment will be held Tuesday at Floral Garden Park Cemetery and a service that Herman will be able to attend is to be held later at the Foley Center at Chestnut Ridge in Blowing Rock.
