Lucinda Jones Richardson passed away at River Landing at Sandy Ridge, Colfax, NC on February 7, 2019. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 64 years, Capt. Billy E. Richardson, USCG (Ret.).
Born on October 28, 1930 at Pilot Mountain, NC, she was the daughter of the late O.P. and Laura Allen Jones. Lucinda was preceded in death by her sisters, Beatrice Anastos and Ruth Reynolds, and her brother Lester Jones.
Lucinda is survived by her four children: Allen (Sharon) Richardson of Cary, NC, Wayne Richardson of Pleasant Garden, NC, Lucinda “Cindi” (David) Parker of Raleigh, NC, and Caroline (Corbin) Auman of Franklinville, NC. She was “Grandy” to: Colin (Jessica) Richardson, T.J. (Katherine) Richardson, Alex Parker, Tyler Parker, Jensen Auman, and Kellan Auman.
Lucinda graduated from St. Leo’s School of Nursing, Greensboro, NC in 1951. Throughout her life, her love of nursing was evident in all she did for others. Her passions included her Fellowship Class at First United Methodist Church (Elizabeth City, NC), volunteering with the Salvation Army, gardening with a green thumb, being a proud and supportive USCG wife, but most importantly loving her family. In later years, Lucinda could be found rocking the bocce courts with many medals…especially gold!
A celebration of Lucinda’s life will be held on Saturday, February 16, 2019 at 2pm at River Landing at Sandy Ridge Retirement Community, 1575 John Knox Drive, Colfax, NC 27235. A memorial service celebrating the lives of Billy and Lucinda will be held at First United Methodist Church, 2015 Road Street, Elizabeth City, NC at a future date.
