Lucy Ardle (Hickman) Kimmons

Lucy Ardle Hickman Kimmons, 82 of High Point passed away at Baptist Medical Center.

Lucy was born February 24, 1936 in Rockingham County to the late Jim Hickman and Hattie Hickman.  She was also preceded in death by her husband, Raymond Kimmons; son, Wade Kimmons; brothers, Roy Hickman, Lee Hickman, Jamie Hickman, Nip Hickman, Gordon Hickman; sisters, Rumell “Sis” Goins, Lilly “Susie” Dowdy.

Lucy was a country girl who enjoyed sitting on her front porch with her dog.  Family was always the love of her life.  She was the best country cook and “always had biscuits on the table”.  There was nothing wrong with a “little dip of chew” every now and then.  She was plain and simply “Mawmaw”.  She was a big fan of George Jones, country music legend.  She will be missed by her family and friends.

Those who will cherish Lucy’s memories are her daughter, Rebecca Hill and husband, Jarvis of High Point; sister, Nancy Joyce and husband, Jerome of Stoneville; grandchildren, Wade “Shorty” Kimmons and wife, Shannon, Nicholas Kimmons and wife, Keri, Terry Hill; great-grandchildren, Brook Herring, Tess Herring, Brandel Wade Kimmons, Jaxon Kimmons, Palmer Kimmons, Max Kimmons, Crew Kimmons; as well as countless nieces, nephews and friends.

To honor Lucy’s life a funeral service will be held 12:00 pm on Wednesday, September 12, 2018 at the Chapel of Cumby Family Funeral Service, 206 Trindale Road in Archdale.  Rev. David Emery will officiate and burial will follow at Floral Garden Park Cemetery in High Point.

The family will greet friends prior to the service from 11:00 until 11:45 am at the funeral home.
