Margaret Lee Stanley Hicks, 88, passed away peaceably at her home on May 23, 2019 after battling with cancer for a short period. We take comfort in knowing she is home with the Lord.
Margaret was born September 2, 1930, in Stanly, North Carolina. She was preceded in death by her husband of 69 years, N.C. Hicks, her parents, Austin and Allie Stanley; Brother, Samuel Austin (“S.A.”) Stanley, Sisters and brothers-in-law, Lemont and Myrtle Peeler, Werner and Ann Bebernis, Don and Alma Donaldson, brothers and sisters-in-law, Lemon and Margaret Stanley, Howard and Vera Stanley, Clyde and Helen Stanley, Johnny and Hazel Stanley, Bill and Marge Stanley, grandsons Jeffrey Brian Martin and Jonathan Wayne Martin.
Margaret is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Peggy and James Larry Martin; sons and daughters-in-law, David and TuYon Hicks, Jimmy and Becky Hicks and Robert and Charlotte Hicks; grandchildren, Joseph and Rebecca Martin; Angel and Jeremi Hayes; Kevin and Jennifer Hicks, Carolyn and Danny Dalton; Amy Carson; Joshua and Larissa Hicks and Amanda and Cristian Razzini; 22 great-grandchildren, and one great-great grandson, Lincoln, to be born in August to Cade and Rachel Martin, as well as numerous nieces, and nephews.
She was a charter member of Living Waters Baptist Church in Greensboro and loved her church family so much.
She enjoyed cooking and was famous for her chicken and dumplings. She also loved gardening and working puzzles.
She was a loving mother and friend; a beautiful Christian lady. She loved her family and thrived to see each one know her savior and friend, Jesus Christ (or know Jesus Christ as their personal savior). She loved telling others about Jesus and touched many lives for the Lord.
Visitation will be held Saturday evening from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Living Waters Baptist Church in Greensboro. A celebration of her life will be held 2:00 p.m. Sunday at the church. Interment will follow at Guilford Memorial Park Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hospice and Palliative Care of Greensboro at 2500 Summit Ave. Greensboro, NC, 27405 or to Living Waters Baptist Church at 5667 Old Randleman Rd.
