Margaret Louise Sheets Smith, 101, of High Point, entered her eternal home on Friday, Febraury 3, 2023 at Brookdale North High Point Memory Care.
A native of Forsyth County, Margaret was born on Saturday, October 15, 1921 to the late Thomas Jefferson Sheets and the late Alda Robertie Copple Sheets. Margaret was blessed to be apart of a large family, growing up she was one of twelve children. She married the love of her life, the late, W.O. "Duck" Smith. A marriage that started as a result of a blind date and blossomed into 59 years of marriage, until his death in 2003. After graduating from Allen Jay High School, she worked for many years as a seamstress at Adams-Millis, and as a sewer at Heritage Furniture Company and Schoonbeck Furniture Company.
Margaret was a woman of profound faith and was a longtime devoted member of Green Street Baptist Church since the late 1940's. She taught Intermediate Girls Sunday School, sang in the Adult Choir and the Saints Alive Choir. After retirement, Margaret and Duck served Meals on Wheels for a number of years.
In addition to her parents and her husband, Margaret is preceded in death by all of her beloved siblings.
Margaret is survived by her son, Larry Smith (Ginny) of Newport News, Virginia.
Larry and Ginny want to express their thanks to the staff and congregation of Green Street Baptist Church, who provided a spiritual family, opportunities for ministry, and loving care and support through the years. They also wish to express their thanks and appreciation to the administration and staff at Brookdale High Point, North- Assisted Living and Memory Care for their compassionate and professional care.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, February 8, 2023 in the chapel of Cumby Family Funeral Service, High Point with Rev. Frank Hensley officiating. The family will recieve friends from 10:00 - 10:45 AM prior to the service. Interment will follow the funeral service at Floral Garden Park Cemetery.
