Mrs. Margaret Louise Barnett Walker, 88, formerly of Trinity, died February 16, 2020 at the home of her daughter in Denton.
She was born July 13, 1931 in Pulaski, Virginia, a daughter to the late Louie J. and Hattie Virginia Via Roope. As a resident of this area most of her life, she was a member of Mt. Calvary Baptist Church in Archdale and retired from Sara Lee Hosiery in 1996.. She loved her “walking” friends at Creekside Park in Archdale as well as her relationships established at The Life Center in Lexington.
Surviving are her two daughters, Judy Nicholls and husband Jeffery of Archdale and Janice East and husband Robert of High Rock Lake; four grandchildren, Vickie Ingram, Melissa Smith, Travis East and Matthew East; ten great grandchildren; eleven great-great grandchildren; step grandchildren, Allison Coley and Lauren Howerton; special nieces, Sue Edwards, Patricia Golliher and Sharon Honaker; two nephews, Wayne Rupe and Dennis Rupe; a brother-in-law, Jimmy Barnett; sisters-in-law, Juanita Gates, Becky Hooks, Mary Tysinger, Naomi Hoffman, Becky Barnett, Sylvia Rupe and Betty Rupe; and special friends, Sylvia, Sarah and Cellie. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Thomas Lee Barnett; second husband, Roy Joe Walker; a sister, Pauline Brown; three brothers, Robert, Basel and Donald Rupe; a nephew, Freddy Goad; and two sisters-in-law, Kathleen Roupe and Nancy Wallace.
Funeral services will be held 1:00 p.m. Wednesday in the chapel of the Cumby Family Funeral Service in Archdale with Rev. Richard Callahan officiating. Interment will follow at Floral Garden Park Cemetery in High Point. The family will receive friends prior to the service from 11:30-1:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
