TRINITY-Margaret Simril Peake, 89, passed away Friday, April 27, 2018.
She was born in Rock Hill, SC on September 6, 1928, to the late Hugh and Louise Evans Simril. A resident of Rock Hill in her younger years, she attended Winthrop College, (now Winthrop University), graduating in 1949 with a Degree in Early Childhood Education. After college, she served as Director of the preschool and kindergarten programs at First Presbyterian Church, Morganton, Trinity Memorial United Methodist Church in Trinity, and Charlotte Day School in Charlotte. Margaret was a member of First Presbyterian Church in High Point, where she was actively involved in her church as long as her health permitted. She enjoyed traveling; especially with her church friends, and her friends from Wesley Memorial United Methodist Church. Her true love and passion was spending time with her family. She was a loving mother, grandmother and great grandmother and will be dearly missed. In addition to her parents, preceding her in death was her husband: Hopkins “Hop” Peake; her brother, Hugh Simril; her sisters, Sarah Simril and Jane Stewart.
She leaves to cherish her memory, her sons, Dr. Gregory Peake, Evans Peake and his wife, Bonita; her grandchildren, Jeremy Peake and his wife, Kelly, Sean Peake and his wife, Ashley, and Leilani Peake, her great grandchildren, Kaylin Lowell, Hailey Lowell and Emma Lowell; several nieces and nephews.
A service to celebrate Margaret’s life will be held on Saturday, June 16, 2018, at 2 pm, at First Presbyterian Church, with Reverend Dr. Erin Bowers officiating. Her family will receive friends one hour prior to the service in the Family Life Center.
