Margelene Hicks Watkins

Mrs. Margelene Hicks Watkins passed away on February 11, 2021 at the Cary Health and Rehab Center.  She was born on November 20, 1937 in Red Springs, a daughter to Donnie Hicks and Magalene English Hicks Hall.

Margie worked in the medical field for over 30 years, serving at Rex Hospital. She was a loving mother, grandmother, and friend.  Margie enjoyed playing the piano, visiting with family and friends, reading her Bible and always looked her absolute best. Through the Lord’s strength and grace, she was able to take life’s many challenges and see how God was working all things together for her good.

Margie was predeceased by her parents and her brother, Billy Hicks. She is survived by her brother, Tom Hicks, and daughters: Karla (and Michael) Hair of Atlanta, GA, Tammy (and Bill) Simpson of Wilmington, NC, and son Jeff (and Sandi) Jones of Fuquay-Varina, NC, along with eight grandchildren: Kristin Hair, Jacob Hair, Joshua (and Mandy) Simpson, Hannah (and Theo) Milojevich, Dale Jones, Lydia Jones, John Jones, and Michael Jones.

The family will have a private graveside service at Great Marsh Baptist Church in St. Pauls, NC on Tuesday, February 16 at 2:30 p.m.
