Marie (Holden) Morgan-Owenby

Mrs. Marie Holden Morgan-Owenby, 80, of Jamestown, passed away Thursday, October 4, 2018, at High Point Regional Hospital.

Born April 2, 1938, in Swain County, Marie was the daughter of the late Bill and Martha Dills Holden. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her first husband, Harold Morgan, two brothers, James and Edgar Holden, a sister, Velaree Holden, and a granddaughter, Donna Marie Freeman. She was a member of Landmark Baptist Church and was retired from Polo Ralph Lauren.

Survivors include her husband Arnold Owenby; daughter, Darlene Dillard (Allen Farmer), of Pleasant Garden; son, Richard H. Morgan (Barbara), of Bryson City; step-children, Sharon Weaver, of High Point, and Bryan Owenby, of Greensboro; a brother, Robert Holden (Emmie), of Bryson City; sisters, Josephine Davis, of Winston-Salem, Ruby Passmore (Tommy), of Acworth, GA, Willa Mae Passmore (Earl), of Topton, Azalee Slagle, Patricia Simonds, Rosa Lee White, Linda Lindsay (Jimmie), and Sandra Winchester (Dexter), all of Bryson City; a sister-in-law, Cindy Holden; four grandchildren, five great grandchildren and a great-great granddaughter.

Funeral will be 1:00 p.m., Monday, Oct. 8th, 2018, at Landmark Baptist Church, officiated by Rev. Amos Mashburn. Interment will follow in Guilford Memorial Park Cemetery. The family will receive friends Sunday afternoon from 3 until 5 at Cumby Family Funeral Service in Archdale.
