Marietta Bell Cook Summit

ARCHDALE- Marietta Bell Cook Summit, 85, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Sunday, September 12, 2021.

She was born on March 16, 1936 in Davidson County, a daughter of the late Ross and Genie Lanier Cook. A resident of Archdale most of her life, she retired from Randolph County School System, having served at Trinity High School most of her career, and later at Wheatmore High School. She was an active member of Garrell Street Baptist Church, where she had served as pianist. Marietta enjoyed playing the piano and spending time with her family; especially her grandchildren.  She loved her Lord, her family and her church family and will be dearly missed. In addition to her parents, preceding her in death were a son, Danny Summit and a daughter, Sherry McCall.

She leaves to cherish her memory; her husband of 68 years, Jack Summit; a daughter, Jackie Carico; her grandchildren, Shannon Carico, Shonda Carico, Selina Boardman, Brandon McCall, Jeremy McCall, Jamie Hill, Sheree Parker, Alex Summit and Tasheena Summit; 26 great grandchildren, 13 great- great grandchildren.

A service to celebrate Marietta’s life will be held on Friday, September 17, at Garrell Street Baptist Church, with Reverend Dr. Rodney Otwell officiating. The committal service will follow at Holly Hill Memorial Park Cemetery in Thomasville. Her family will receive friends on Friday, September 17, from 9:45 until 10:45 a.m., at the church.
